Expert Bone Tumor Care That Puts You First

Facing a tumor or cancer in the bones or soft tissues can be overwhelming—but you don’t have to go through it alone. At TRR Hospitals, our Orthopaedic Oncology Unit is dedicated to diagnosing and treating benign and malignant tumors of the bones, joints, and muscles. We combine advanced orthopedic surgery with oncology expertise to provide comprehensive, compassionate, and customized care.

Whether it’s a suspicious lump, a known tumor, or bone pain that needs evaluation, our team is here to guide you through every step—from diagnosis to recovery—with clarity, precision, and hope.

What Is Orthopaedic Oncology?

Orthopaedic oncology is a specialized field that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of bone tumors, soft tissue tumors, and cancers that affect the musculoskeletal system. These may be primary tumors (originating in bone or muscle) or secondary (spread from other organs, known as metastases).

Our orthopedic oncologists at TRR Hospitals are specially trained to manage these complex conditions while preserving limb function and quality of life.

  • Giant cell tumor of bone

Malignant (Cancerous) Tumors

  • Soft tissue sarcomas (rhabdomyosarcoma, liposarcoma, etc.)
  • Metastatic bone disease (from breast, lung, prostate cancers)
  • Multiple myeloma affecting bone

Treatment Options at TRR Hospitals

Treatment depends on the type, size, location, and aggressiveness of the tumor. Our goal is not just tumor removal, but also limb preservation, function restoration, and long-term quality of life.

Surgical Treatments:

Tumor Resection

Removal of the tumor with a safety margin to prevent recurrence. Techniques vary based on the type and location of the tumor.

Limb-Salvage Surgery

In many malignant bone tumors, we use limb-preserving techniques instead of amputation. This involves resection of the tumor followed by reconstruction using prosthetics, bone grafts, or orthopedic implants.

Amputation (in select cases)

Only performed when limb-salvage is not feasible or safe. Followed by prosthetic support and full rehabilitation.

Curettage and Bone Grafting

Used for benign tumors—removing the lesion and filling the cavity with bone graft or cement.

Adjuvant Therapies

In collaboration with medical oncologists and radiologists, we offer:

Each case is reviewed by our team of orthopedic surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and pathologists to create a tailored treatment plan that balances survival, function, and quality of life.
